About Special Issues

Special Issues are focused collections of papers on topics of increasing interest within a discipline. These issues provide a venue for research on emerging areas, highlight important subdisciplines, or describe new cross-disciplinary applications. Special Issues are led by Editorial Board Members or invited Guest Editors. This section explains the benefits of running a Special Issue with ADS@AU and the responsibilities entailed.

Submitting a Proposal

ADS@AU invites experienced researchers to apply to become a Lead Guest Editor on a Special Issue in one of our journals. Lead Guest Editors direct the entire Special Issue process, which includes recruiting a team of Guest Editors, preparing a Special Issue proposal, and managing the peer review of submissions. Our editorial team will consider draft proposals and forward high-quality submissions to Academic Editors for consideration. Get in touch at special.issues@hindawi.com for assistance.

Preparing a Call for Papers

A Special Issue proposal begins with the editors writing and submitting a Call for Papers describing the topic of the issue. Get started by downloading this template. If the proposal is approved, the Call for Papers will appear online to help researchers find and submit to the Special Issue. Get help preparing a Call for Papers »

Promoting Your Special Issue

Once the journal’s Academic Editors approve a proposal, it appears on the journal’s website. Editors can begin promoting their Special Issue as soon as the Call for Papers is available online. ADS@AU’s marketing team will conduct initial outreach on your behalf by sending the Call for Papers to researchers working in relevant fields. Read tips on promoting your Special Issue »
